Marist St Joseph’s Sports Club was incorporated under the Incorporated Societies Ordinance Act 1952 (the ACT) in the YEAR 1983. A decision to separate and become independent from the Marist Old Boys Association after the 1982 first Rugby Tour of New Zealand which entitled all the tour members to become New Zealand Citizens at the time of the reign of NZ Prime Minister Robert Muldoon when the New Zealand Government declared that all Samoan descendents and Samoan people in New Zealand at the time are entitled to NZ citizenship. (refer extract below) Upon returning from the tour, members decided to register the club as a sports body with a constitution to govern and to promote sports and the club’s respective objectives. It was from the above tour that John Schuster gained an opportunity to play for St Pats (Wellington) and then advance to play for the All Blacks
