2024 NZ MARIST 50TH COLTS & DEVELOPMENT TOUR SQUAD

We’re thrilled to announce the 2024 New Zealand Marist 50th Colts/Development Tour, hitting the road across the stunning South Island! Starting in Invercargill, with stops in Dunedin, Timaru, and wrapping up in Christchurch. A huge congrats to this year’s coaches, Craig ‘Dundee’ Glendinning from Ardmore Marist and Seta Sauira from Marist Nelson. Let’s get ready for an unforgettable tour!

1. What inspired you to start playing rugby, and how did you get involved with the Marist Rugby Community? 

My extended family - cousins and uncles were all involved in Counties Marist back in the day.

2. Why is it important for you to play for NZ Marist Colts? 

Being a co coach is actually an honour and privilege to be given the role. I get to also represent my Marist heritage.

3. What is your history and experience with the Marist Rugby.  

Junior and senior rugby for Ardmore Marist (formerly Counties Marist), privilege to captain NZ Marist 7s teams back in the day and being part of successful Spillane Cup winning sides with Ardmore Marist

1. What inspired you to start playing rugby, and how did you get involved with the Marist Rugby Community? 

Being a young kid growing up playing rugby at lunchtimes with your mates and wanting to be like the AllBlacks , Joined a Marist club for JAB rugby as a kid because all my friends played for them 

2. Why is it important for you to play for NZ Marist Colts? 

It’s Important to play for the Marist colts because of the history and culture of this great tour and team and to play another level of rugby and make new friends throughout the Marist community 

3. What is your history and experience with the Marist Rugby. 

First memory is the Pompallier trophy tournament playing for Timaru Celtic as a under 13  and now the Marist tournament we play as part of our pre season playing against other South Island Marist teams

1. What inspired you to start playing rugby, and how did you get involved with the Marist Rugby Community? 

Started playing rugby because all my mates and whanau played. 

2. Why is it important for you to play for NZ Marist Colts? 

It is important for me to play Marist colts because it gives my a chance to represent my club Hastings Rugby & Sports, along with my teammates, family and province. 

3. What is your history and experience with the Marist Rugby. 

I’ve played for my Marist club all my life since I was 4, and have been lucky enough to play in 2 Spillane tournaments. 

1. What inspired you to start playing rugby, and how did you get involved with the Marist Rugby Community? 

I was inspired to play rugby when i was young because I wanted to spend more time with my mates but I am now more inspired by my parents to continue to push myself, I got involved in marist in the last couple of years to try and play the best level of rugby I could and I have a few mates who play for marist.

2. Why is it important for you to play for NZ Marist Colts?

Playing for marist nz colts is important for me because it has and will allow me to play good rugby against some of the best players the country has to offer and meet some new people 

3. What is your history and experience with the Marist Rugby.

I've played for wanganui marist prems for 2 years 


1. What inspired you to start playing rugby, and how did you get involved with the Marist Rugby Community? 

My older brother and sister played rugby when i was young and they made me want to play. My parents enrolled me for HOBM and haven’t looked back since.

2. Why is it important for you to play for NZ Marist Colts? 

Because it is a huge privilege to represent my club and represent my family.

3. What is your history and experience with the Marist Rugby. 

I started playing for HOBM when i was 3 like i said and have loved playing for the club since, I have made lifelong friends along the way and have really enjoyed playing for a marist club.

1. What inspired you to start playing rugby, and how did you get involved with the Marist Rugby Community? 

Watching rugby on tv inspired me to play so after 1st xv rugby my mates brought me to Marist 

2. Why is it important for you to play for NZ Marist Colts? 

Playing for nz colts is important because it’s a chance represent Hamilton Marist 

3. What is your history and experience with the Marist Rugby. 

My history with Marist is good filled with a good environment and 4 championships wins across my 5 years with the club. 

1. What inspired you to start playing rugby, and how did you get involved with the Marist Rugby Community? 

Watching the All Blacks as a kid with dad.  Got involved with Marist in my junior days, joining the local club Greerton Marist. Still playing there today.

2. Why is it important for you to play for NZ Marist Colts? 

To represent my club and give back to them and my family by performing.

 3. What is your history and experience with the Marist Rugby. 

Been playing for Greerton Marist for 9 years now. Joined Greerton Marist in u10s played there for 5 junior years. Won the comp 2 times, finalists 3 times. Then rejoined again after college from 2021 through to now. Have been semi finalists twice and finalists this year.

1. What inspired you to start playing rugby, and how did you get involved with the Marist Rugby Community? 

In high school all my friends were playing rugby and I made the switch from rugby league. I wanted to play in the 1st XV with them. After high school I played for the North Harbour Marist Saints for U21's.

2. Why is it important for you to play for NZ Marist Colts? 

It's an honour to play seeing all the great rugby players who played for NZ Marist before me and I want to play some exciting footy with the next greats coming through.

3. What is your history and experience with the Marist Rugby?

I moved to Greymouth a couple years ago and was invited to play for Greymouth Marist Rugby Club. The club really looked after me and I have made some awesome footy memories and friends for life

1. What inspired you to start playing rugby, and how did you get involved with the Marist Rugby Community? 

Was brought down to Marist by my father at a young age played all my junior rugby down at Marist and followed that through after high school. 

2. Why is it important for you to play for NZ Marist Colts? 

it is important for me to be on this tour to represent myself and my family and to preform for my home club 

3. What is your history and experience with the Marist Rugby. 

i have played for Marist right from the ripper days and following high school have played 3 seasons for Marist invercargill

1. What inspired you to start playing rugby, and how did you get involved with the Marist Rugby Community? 

Just always loved watching it as a kid and made me want to play the game, Mum picked a club and marist was the one, glad she did 

2. Why is it important for you to play for NZ Marist Colts?

Its a very good rep team and itll be good learning and improving my game 

 3. What is your history and experience with the Marist Rugby.

Always a very welcoming club and if you ever need anything theyre willing to help out

1. What inspired you to start playing rugby, and how did you get involved with the Marist Rugby Community? 

Playing with mates and just playing footy, I got involved in Marist when I started playing under White Star RFC when I was about 5 and been apart of it ever since.

2. Why is it important for you to play for NZ Marist Colts?

Because I get to represent my club and my family with pride under the Marist club.

 3. What is your history and experience with the Marist Rugby.

My experience with Marist is hearing stories about the colts tour and how fun it was and also remembering seeing the Marist colts on a school visit when I was at primary school and the tour stopped through in Westport.
